Three farmers are forced to leave their flood-stricken hometown in Anhui, a central Chinese province, and head for southern China together to find work. Chen Dacheng makes a living by selling vegetable. Qiu Maosheng gets beaten for cheating on the streets. Zhang Xiufang can’t stand being harassed by his boss and finally leaves the sweatshop. The three people meet again at the eve of 21st century and work together at a construction site. |
